The tutorial Flash Visions will again use Sony Ericsson’s component set to build complex interactions in Flash Lite. The artilec will give you the step by step tutorial to tell you all about it.
Step 1: Open Device central and select to create a Flash type document.
Step 2: Select a generic Flash Lite document template to start with. for our walk-through we will select the following settings.
Step 3: Drag the Toolbar component to stage and then delete it. It will now be available in the library. ( you can also directly drag it into the library if you wish)
Step 4: Now we will prepare the code for our walk-through demonstration. Create a second layer on the time line and name it as “actions”. This will be the top most layer, where we shall put our logic. Label the first layer as “UI” and order it below the “actions” layer. This is where We shall put our graphic assets if any. Then create another layer called “SoftKeyLabel“, between the “actions” later and the “UI” layer. On the “SoftKeyLabel” layer we will have three textfields. Left softkey label, Right softkey label and Middle softkey label. The middle softkey label will be a dynamic textfield.
Step 5: Now we start with the code. Below is the code that goes into the first frame on the “actions” layer.
Via Flash Visions, the site posted a new Flash Lite tutorial, tell you how to use Flash Lite to create a Fifa 2010 country selector.

This list will demonstrate populating the list of the FIFA 2010 countries and then selecting one from the list using the 4-way/2-way navigation keys. For the purpose of this walk-through you need to have downloaded the component set provided by Sony Ericsson, available as a mxp package for you Flash IDE. You can then install the .mxp package using Adobe Extension Manager. See the image below.
Flash Lite is undoubtedly a feature rich multimedia platform mobile application development. However one thing that still lacks is the support for mobile friendly component architecture naively from Adobe. However all is not lost because Sony Ericsson and Nokia provide some cool components to save the day. With the proper tool-set Flash Lite is just as powerful as Flex / Flash on desktop.
Sony Ericsson’s channels to market, PlayNow™ arena and Fun & Downloads are now open for distribution and sale of Flash content, thanks to our recent simplification of certification requirements which means Flash content does not need to be signed.
